Awareness Sessions

At Golden Gatherings, we care for our seniors . Their health and well being is a priority. This is why we host regular awareness sessions, in collaboration with medical specialists health- NGOs.

Art Sessions

It is never too late to re-discover and develop talents.  Art and craft sessions are not only cathartic but present an opportunity to explore creativity, encouraging fine motor activities. Our seniors enjoy a variety of Arts Sessions: Painting, paper folding, clay modeling etc.

Social Integration

“Often what the elderly need is not a new crutch or a hearing aid, but a new friend or a new purpose”. Every senior at Golden Gatherings is valued and slowly develops a bond and sense of belonging. Sharing life experiences, memories with each other facilitates building a bond.

Games

Indian board games, memory games…Learning new games is not only entertaining but provides deep brain stimulation, aimed towards preventing depression and dementia.

Birthday Celebrations

Festivals and special occasions like birthdays are celebrated together.

Yoga for Body and Mind

Yoga is essential both for physical and emotional well being. Our seniors have weekly  yoga sessions, specially prepared for their age range, followed by deep breathing.

Outings

Our program offers carefully planned outings for Senior Citizens: outdoor excursions, visiting historical sites, and having lunch together… all while having fun.

Music

Music can be particularly beneficial in helping seniors to improve their memory and cognitive skills. Music has been shown to not only elicit a positive reaction when you hear music that reminds you of your past, but it can also evoke special memories, and elicit responses in seniors with dementia.

Passion project

A passion project is a personal project that one undertakes out of a strong interest or curiosity in a particular topic, idea, or skill.
Pursuing a passion project can be a deeply fulfilling and rewarding experience. Our members of golden gatherings have undertaken their projects after deep thought and are working towards it. Be it painting exhibition, documenting culinary journey, penning down life experiences, writing short stories etc. It’s great to see them dedicate time to something they love. ❤️

Traditional Art

A member of Golden Gatherings graciously taught us the traditional art of kolam/rangoli. Research has shown that creating and counting dots while crafting aesthetic designs is cognitively stimulating for both young and older adults. The group was highly engaged in learning this art form.

Sharing Skills

Sharing skills between seniors and younger adults—like learning how to send WhatsApp messages—proves that there’s no age limit to learning and growing. It’s heartening to see everyone embrace new skills together.

Ganesha Festival

As the Ganesha festival approaches, our members decided to create their own Ganapati idols. Moulding clay is not only a wonderfully therapeutic activity for both body and mind but also brings immense joy when we see the finished creation. Ganapati Bappa Morya!

Crocheting

Crochet is a therapeutic art that offers numerous mental and physical health benefits. It can help combat anxiety, relieve stress, reduce insomnia, boost self-esteem, alleviate depression, enhance fine motor skills, and even lower the risk of Alzheimer’s, among other advantages. Creating art with yarn through crocheting can be incredibly fulfilling. Research has shown that engaging in crafts like knitting increases the release of serotonin in the body, which can elevate pain thresholds and improve overall well-being. Recently, Golden Gatherings hosted a crochet workshop led by Dina Sengupta. Our senior members enthusiastically participated, stepping out of their comfort zones to learn this new skill. It’s never too late to start!

Mr. Ramesh Bhadauria at Golden Gatherings

Had an insightful session with guest speaker Mr. Ramesh Bhadauria at Golden Gatherings, where he shared his fascinating experiences of Japan through his eyes. The students from the National Institute of Design, Bangalore, made the event even more engaging by creating live sketches of the attendees and sharing details about their backgrounds and research projects, particularly on post-retirement care. Cherry on the cake was the combined birthday celebration of three of our beloved members of Golden Gatherings. A truly enriching and interactive experience!

Joy In Learning

Research shows that when senior citizens share their skills with others, it creates a beautiful win-win — benefiting both the teacher and the learner. Not only does it boost cognitive health, but it also brings a deep sense of joy and fulfillment.
Today, one of our beloved members led a lovely session, teaching the group how to make simple, handmade greeting cards. The results were heartwarming — smiling faces, creative energy, and a shared sense of accomplishment filled the room.
We also had the pleasure of celebrating a special occasion — a belated but joy-filled birthday celebration for our dear Somna. The Gatherings were filled with creativity, connection, and cheer!

Physiotherapy Session

Today at Golden Gatherings, we had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Misbah Khan, a skilled physiotherapist, for an engaging session on improving balance and muscle strength to prevent falls in older age.
She conducted a quick balance test for our members and demonstrated effective TheraBand exercises. The energy was high, and our members participated with great enthusiasm!

Elder Care

Today’s session was a vibrant dive into the 400-year-old folk art of Pichwai from Nathdwara, Rajasthan. Pichwai—which beautifully translates to “that which hangs at the back”—enchants with its intricate depictions and cultural richness. Our Golden Gatherings members were truly enthusiastic, bringing the artwork to life through their own creativity, colouring and shading with joy and focus.

If you’re a corporate, volunteer, individual, or a caretaker who believes in the power of active aging and is looking to contribute to the well-being of seniors, we warmly invite you to be a part of the Golden Gatherings community. Today’s jam session came with a twist! 🎶✨ One of our members surprised everyone with a fun quiz, adding an extra dose of excitement. And yes—there were prizes up for grabs too!

Therapies

Sound Therapy

Sound therapy is a sound technology that uses audible sound vibrations to decrease stress, promote relaxation, and improve health. The soothing sounds help to re-tune the brain to cope with stress better by replenishing brain energy. At GoldenGatherings we organize regular sound therapy sessions for our valued members.

Art Therapy

Art therapy challenges seniors to create and stimulates the senses to become sharper. Learning new art forms can enhance thinking skills and make it easier to make quick neural connections that may have been lost due to aging. Artistic projects help to increase socialization. A sense of humor is heightened through artistic expression. Sensory stimulation is experienced through artistic recreation. Boredom tends to decrease significantly in the elderly. Enhanced cognitive function, mood boost , improved motor skills, increased socialization, self expression,  pain relief and improved memory function is seen with regular sessions. At Golden gatherings we organize regular art therapies for our seniors.
