Golden Gatherings

HOW GOLDEN GATHERINGS WAS BORN ?

Our Journey Began with a Simple Yet Profound Realization

We were deeply moved by a passage from Oscar Wilde’s The Happy Prince:

“When I was alive and had a human heart,” said the Prince, “I did not know what tears were, for I lived in the Palace of Sans-Souci, where sorrow is not allowed to enter. And now that I am dead they have set me up here so high that I can see all the ugliness and all the misery of my city, and though my heart is made of lead yet I cannot choose but weep.”

Those words stayed with us. Like the Happy Prince, we began to look beyond the walls around us and saw something that often goes unnoticed.

We saw older adults who had spent a lifetime building families, careers, and communities, yet many were experiencing loneliness, isolation, and a diminishing sense of connection. We saw seniors living longer, but not always living more meaningfully, and families searching for support, companionship, and opportunities for their loved ones to remain active, engaged, and valued.

We could have chosen to simply feel sad about it. Instead, we chose to act.

Golden Gatherings was born from the belief that every senior deserves friendship, purpose, belonging, and joy. What started as a desire to bring people together has evolved into a movement to create vibrant communities where older adults can continue to connect, contribute, learn, and thrive.

We did not choose to weep. We chose to build.

At Golden Gatherings, we measure success not by the number of events conducted, but by the relationships built, the lives enriched and the communities strengthened.
